Recently I have been revamping my wardrobe - clearing out or altering items that no longer fit, selling things that can't be easily altered or, even better, trading them for items I can comfortably wear.
I had been feeling less excited by my wardrobe for a while. It was disheartening to realise that I could no longer wear many of my dresses. I have no interest in trying to shrink my body to match a smaller, younger version of myself. I'm in my mid 30s now, and it's natural for my body to change over time. so my only choice is to accept that and build a wardrobe around how I am now.
While it has been hard to say goodbye to some of my beloved dresses, it has been made infinitely easier, and even exciting, by trading my dresses with other lolitas. All these lovely interactions within the community have really given me a boost and reignited my passion for the fashion. And who doesn't love receiving a new dress in the post?
To express my joy, I thought it would be fun to make a blog post showing all the recent trades I have made, mostly this year but one each from 2024 and 2025.

Starting off we have one of my favourite dresses, Meta Music Note OP!
Technically, this wasn't a trade. I sold a dress to my boyfriend and then shortly after I bought this one off him for the exact same price, so it was basically a trade. It's just lolita maths! It would have been a direct trade if the timing of us clearing our wardrobes had aligned, so I'm counting it.
Since joining my wardrobe, this dress has become one of my top favourites, as I knew it would. The bright pink makes me think of Barbie and it's so comfortable! I acquired it in 2024, so it's already had many adventures since then.
I altered it slightly, removing the elastic over the bust to make the cut more similar to this, which I find much comfier.

I traded with my boyfriend again in 2025 for this beautiful Meta OP. I have borrowed it from him before and loved wearing it.
Whenever I clear things out of my wardrobe, I like to give my boyfriend first dibs. We have overlapping styles, so it was pretty easy to agree on a trade! I felt the OP was more valuable than the skirt, so I offered to trade for both the skirt and this cute bunny lace blouse. He especially loves sweet pink styles, so these are perfect items for him.
I felt my wardrobe had been lacking in dresses that could be styled in a more gothic way, having sold all my Moitie already, so this dress fits perfectly into my wardrobe.

Speaking of re-building my gothic wardrobe, this dress is just perfect! It was very hard to let go of my beloved bouquet OP, as not only is it one of my favourites, it also has sentimental value. I wore it to twin with my boyfriend at his Raschel event in 2021 and I love when we match our coords. However, it was no longer comfortable to wear and I recently bought the larger 2025 release from a friend, so I decided to put this one up for trade.
I traded with a fellow old school discord server member and I'm so excited to wear my new dress. I haven't had a long gothic piece before and I love long dresses so much!

Another trade in the old school server. I was offered two dresses in exchange for my one. Meta and Emily Temple Cute are my favourite brands, so I was delighted! It's rare to find ETC in my size, so I leapt at the chance. I need to alter the elastic to make it more comfortable, which will be a bit more difficult that the other dresses here, due to the dress construction, but I think I am equal to the task.
This Meta dress is the same as one my best friend used to have in lilac. I love striped florals. The print reminds me a little of this dress that I had to sell. Now that I have this one, I feel like it fills a hole in my wardrobe. I also want to wear it blouseless as a sundress, once it's warm enough.
Since taking this photo, I have removed the shirring that goes over the bust, to make it more comfortable to wear, as with the music note OP.

Another trade with my boyfriend! This Meta crown OP is one of his dream dresses, so I had to offer it to him before anyone else. I really wanted him to have it, it looks so cute on him and I knew it would make him happy, so I was pretty open to any trades.
This lovely pink AP OP is actually unlike anything else I have, so I'm excited to welcome it into my wardrobe. It has such a nostalgic feel to it, as it's from around the same time as when I first looked through an issue of GLB.
As with the Meta floral JSK and music note, I removed the elastic directly over the bust to make it more comfortable to wear.
I'm excited to coord this in the most pink way possible, but also to coord it in other fun colour combinations - pink x sax, pink x mint, pink x yellow... so many options!

Another old school discord server trade. I have wanted a Wirehead dress for ages, but they always sell out so fast that I miss them. I was excited to see this one up for trade!
I still had several things on offer to trade, so I asked if they wanted to trade with me. I was really happy when they said yes!
We got chatting whilst trading and it was really lovely to talk to them. It's interactions like this that make me feel so happy and grateful to be part of the lolita community, which is what inspired me to write this blogpost.
