Identifying Every Pony on a My Little Pony Skirt

12th August 2025

Recently my local lolita comm had a buy / sell / swap meet. I bought and traded for some lovely things and also got several things for free! Perhaps I will make a post of my full haul, but for now I wanted to focus on one specific item- a skirt made from an 80s My Little Pony bedsheet!

This bedding set is my very favourite that was released in the 80s and I was sad to miss out on it on ebay a while back. Imagine my excitement when a comm member was giving this skirt away for free!

One thing I love about it is how many different ponies are in this print, how detailed it it. I thought it would be really fun to identify every pony and playset featured in the print, so this is what we are about to do! Some I recognised at once, others took a little more digging around online. I am from the UK and this is a UK release, so I will be using the UK names for some of the ponies wherever they differ.

Lullabye Nursery

lullabye nursery

First up we have the wonderful Lullabye Nursery! Possibly the cutest pony playset there is. I just love how the gingham details look in the print. The colours are just perfect, it really looks like they just shrunk it down and put it on the fabric!

I have this playset in my room, but it's having to lay sideways on my shelf at the moment because it's just a few cm too tall for anywhere! Hopefully I can find it a better home soon so I can admire it properly.

Baby Tiddly Winks

tiddly winks

Baby Tiddly Winks is the baby pony that came with the Lullabye Nursery, so it's lovely to see her featured playing in front it. She's even on the rocker that came with the nursery too! I think she is captured very well here, her expression is so sweet and her cutie mark is a clear match to her real life self.

Dibbles & Nibbles

dibbles and nibbles

These babies were a little difficult to ID because their colours aren't entirely accurate here, but I'm pretty sure it's them as the swan cutie mark is a match. They're also sitting with the bed they came with, even if the colours aren't exact. I think the texture on the bassinet looks lovely. I also like how you can see their little wings just peeking out past their manes.

Sniffles & Snookums

sniffles and snookums

Another set of newborn twins! Like Dibbles & Nibbles, these two are included with their main accessory- the puchchair. The bottles in the print seem to be the ones included with the Lullabye Nursery, rather than the ones that came with the twins, but I forgot to include a photo of those. The printed bottles are probbaly my favourite part of this little scene, they look just like the real ones!

Dream Castle

dream castle

A huge playset- Majesty's Dream Castle! The way the fabric has been cut, this is featured on the very front of the skirt, which is a nice touch. If it had been me, I would have featured the nursery front and centre, but the Dream Castle is lovely too.

There are so many friends in this section of the print and some of them were a little hard to ID. Majesty, Buttons and Spike (looking like a medieval rendition of himself) were easily recognisable, but the others were more difficult as their cutie marks are hidden.

At first I thought the purple and yellow pony might be Woosie, but then I realised she had a horn (I had initially registered it as being part of the background) so now Blackberry Pie (or Boysenberry Pie, as she is called in the US) is my best guess for her. She looks incredibly unhappy to be here, sitting on the Dream Castle throne. The saddest face of them all!

For Princess Misty, I also had only her colours to go on. She was the only purple unicorn with pink hair that I found, so it must be her. She looks a bit like Rapunzel in her tower here. The photo I chose for her is one of two UK variants, if she looks a little different to what you'd expect. It was just the clearest image I could find.

A detail I really love in this part of the print are the hoops Buttons is jumping through- I just think they look so good!

Princess Aquamarine, Prickles & Baby Lickety Split

I love how Princess Aquamarine's glitter mane is drawn here (or Princess Serena as she is known elsewhere.) The dotted line is a great way to show the tinsel.

I think Prickles looks delightful here as well- that cute face! And he's holding a biscuit! I was slightly dissapointed to find his name was Prickles rather than Pickles, as I initially thought it was, but what's in a name, I still love him. In the UK this series of princess ponies all came with a baby dragon, and Prickles was the one included with Princess Aquamarine, so it's cute to have them sitting together on the print.

Baby Lickety Split I spotted at once, her iconic ice creams cutie mark is easy to see. Her mane looks very luxurious here, she's having a great hair day.

Magic Star & Fizzy

magic star and fizzy

All the yellow in this print is another thing I think makes it such a lovely piece, and Magic Star is doing a great job adding to the yellow palette. I think she might look the most like herself of all the ponies on the print- the cutie mark is so clear and accurate.

Fizzy's jewel eye looks so cool in the print, I love how they included that detail to make her easily recognisable.

North Star

north star

North Star is a another very accurate pony. Her cutie mark and colours are perfect. I love her pose in the print- her wings open and leaping through the air. She looks so joyful.

Wind Whistler

wind whistler

Sadly the way the fabric is cut means that Wind Whistler and North Star are split up, but as you can see from the edges, they were originally together in the artwork.

Wind Whistler is the pony I am least confident in my identification of, because the colour scheme looks nothing like her. However, the cutie mark seems to be an exact match, unless it's not actually whistles and instead something else that I haven't figure out. It looks like whistles to me though and her mane colour is a match. Odd that she has a purple body though, especially as blue is featured elsewhere in the print.

Wind Whistler is one of my favourite ponies in my collection, I will have to wear her in my ita bag with this skirt some time.

Rosedust

rosedust

I love flutter ponies and Rosedust is one of my favourites! I recognised her at once. She always makes me think of my boyfriend, because yellow and pink are his favourite colours. I think Rosedust is captured beautifully here, I love how they have drawn her wings. Again, the yellow in this print is just so pretty and I agree with my boyfriend- pink and yellow is an excellent colour scheme. I think she might be my favourite pony in the print.

Tropical Breeze

tropical breeze

Another lovely flutter pony! At first look, I had no idea what her cutie mark was supposed to be, until I found a photo of the pony in question. It's a flamingo! It looks a bit like a blob here, but when side by side with the real pony you can see it. The flutter pony wings once again look lovely.

Sun Shower & Water Lily

sea ponies

I was so excited to see Sun Shower here because she is one of the ponies I have from my childhood. Interestingly, she is posed here in the Water Lily pose like the US version of her, even though in the UK, and other European countries, the doll of her is in the backstroke pose. I'm pretty sure this bedding is a UK release, so this was just an interesting thing to me. Because of this, the photo I used is of her US release, to match the pose in the print.

European and UK Water Lily also came in a different pose- the Tiny Bubbles pose, so that's the version I have included here. I always wonder why there are these differences across releases, it's so interesting to see.

Water Lily in the print looks a bit strange, sorry Water Lily. I'm not sure about this angle and the face she's pulling! She looks a bit like a pig. At least she's having fun.

Both their floats look great in the print. I'd like to get the alligator float for my Sun Shower eventually, as I bought her without it at a car boot sale in the 90s. She has to lean against her friends to stand up on my shelf.

I put together a cute casual outfit with the pony skirt and matched the ponies in my ita bag to some on the print!
